I guess that was a long waite until you got to pick the car up at the weekend. What do you think? I hope you like it? I'm sure my engine has got more aggressive after the first 2500 miles. |

Didn't say the 320d was more boring than the 116d. But now I know for sure that it is more boring than the 116i. To me at least. |

I have some die hard BMW fans as friends and they were not very impressed with me when I told them that I was going to buy an 116i. But after they tried it they were all pretty impressed with the car (for what it is). The M-Sport package makes a lot as well. I don't need to run it in since it was slightly used, 5000 kms on the clock. So far I'm very happy. Feels like the 116i M-Sport is a lot of BMW for the money actually. I think I need to do something about the sound system though. |

I'm sure mine pulls a lot more now it is run in, and if you slam the accelerator to the floor, it revs hard and seems to slip the clutch at about 6000 for maximum power delivery. I was so confused when I read forums saying the 116i is underpowered, but I think it has inherited a bad reputation from the old engine. I find it is so refined and quiet that you pick up speed really fast and don't realise. I test drove the 318D, which felt really planted and executive, but I think I prefer the 116i because the petrol seems more lively. How does the 116i compare to the 320D? |
