Engine misfire
Good morning every one, happy Christmas.
I have a 118d f20 2012. Yesterday I was Driving home and the engine would not pull cleanly under load, it felt like a misfire and also sounded more noisy than usual. Can anyone tell me what this could be? There are no warning lights on should I take the car to the dealer? Any input would be appreciated thanks. |

Happened to me a a few Times randomly and a couple of Times right after refueling . Had The error checked and it said something about the diesel particle filter. Did not do anything about it but fortunately it went away and no trouble in 2 months now.
I am not sure what the problem was but maybe bad quality diesel here in Romania could have had something to do. |

Sounds like the car was doing a regeneration of the DPF, the filter in the exhaust system is super heated to burn off built up deposits. There are no indications on the dash that this is happening but the car will be a bit hesitant and chuggy during the process. There may also be a bit of a smell until it's finished.

Hi guys thanks for your comments, I have contacted the dealer and the car goes in for a health check on Friday.
Appart from this misfire issue they are also going to look at the o/s front suspension which is clunking going up the drive. Both of these issues were mentioned at its first service but not resolved. Will post the outcome. Regards. |
