Sloppy steering f20
Over the last few months I have noticed the steering and handling a bit sloppy,it,s like a driving a cruise ship,on motorway it as though it pitching left to right makes your head feel woozey, just feels I have not much control. Also had the rear step out when coming off a roundabout when not much power input. Maybe it,s the state of our roads, just doesn't give much confidence of late. Has there been any issues over faults in this area.

I would recommend getting the toe angles checked. Sounds like you could need more toe in. These symptoms are also typical for the subframe disaster earlier 3-series BMWs sometimes experienced, where the rear subframe came loose from the car body floor. I haven't heard about this happening to a one series car.

Or is it a case of the normal servotronic deadness when on the motorway and a car on Summer rubber in colder weather?
Tyre pressures all ok?

This is the first car I have decided to get a set of Winter wheels and tyres for due to the low profile runflats it came with. Grip and feel is so much better on even cold wet tarmac so even with no snow they are worth considering.

True in dry conditions or with temperatures above 10C but the runflat compounds of Summer tyres are horrible in the cold and wet.

My non run flat Michelin Pilot Sport 3 summer tyres are superior to my non run flat Michelin X-Ice xi3 winter tyres in cold and wet conditions. If there is ice or snow, there is however only one option, as summer tyres are not usable at all in those conditions.

I would not be surprised to find compounds vary by country / region, afaik studded tyres are never available in the UK for instance.

The winter tyres are slightly different. The ones made for Nordic countries are softer than the ones made for German Autobahns. We need more grip in very slippery conditions, but we don't need as much high speed stability and water drainage on our roads.
