As long as you have the patience, wait for the M235i. It will probably look awesome!

is there a gurantee that there will be an M235i? don't forget, this car is in a class of its own, above that of a regular x35 model. I'd get the M135i. It's a fantastic car. it also depends if you want a hatch..

And when/if the M235i is announced, shortly afterwards there'll be stories of something even newer, faster, brighter... Moral: if you can do it today, do it today!

Buy now the 135i and when the 235i is available and you like it, you can always trade. why wait for 1 or 2 years, when you can enjoy the 135i right now. Also, all the reviews state that it is a great car...probably the best non-M BMW in terms of joy and driving thril.

All we don't know yet about the M235i is how it will look, there are no ifs etc. it is coming and probably not later than a year or so.
On the other hand, between the actual M135i and future M235i your actual choice will be the body type; choose whatever fits your needs and taste. If waiting is not a big problem then I would suggest buy the hatch now and wait for M2 or M2 Gran Coupe for an eventual upgrade.

If you keep waiting for something better, you'll never end up getting anything. Get the M135i and in a few years there will likely be something even better than the first 2 Series.

If the M235 follows the coupe format and has any of the M1 DNA it is going to be hard to beat.
I think it will be a year or two before a fully worked M is available, so get a M135I to play with first |

You will wait for the M235i, buy it then a year or so later a face lifted M135i with slightly more power/better spec will come out and you'll think "shit". Or the 2M or M4 or.... never ending really.
I think that 2 series render is a bit girly. I thought the same of the last 1 coupe/pram top. Hatches are more manly with a nice big boot for carrying manly stuff like sports equipment, tools etc. Real men don't give a shit if their cars are "pretty".
