M135i RWD > what is your consumption? please share!
Hi everyone,
I have driven the car for 6'000km now (3700mi), and i'm averaging 8.6l/100km. I have the automatic gearbox and 60% of my driving is on highway as I drive to work.

I have never understood l/100kms or how to work it out. We think in mpg over here. And the answer to that is 30ish. In a manual over 3600 miles.

MPG is measuring fuel ecomony - how far you go per given amount.
L/100km is measuing fuel consumption - how much you use per given distance. As they are using a different viewpoint the conversion is not overly simple. One (UK) gallon is 4.55litres. 100km is about 62 miles. So 9.1l/100km would be roughly 31mpg To convert from mpg (UK) to l/100km: EG 35mpg Divide by 4.55 to get miles per litre. EG 7.7 Multiply by 1.6 to get kilometres per litre. EG 12.3 Divide 100 by the km per litre figure EG 8.1 To covert from l/100km to mpg (UK): EG 9l/100km Divide 100 by the l/100km figure: EG 11.1 Divide by 1.6: EG 6.9 Multiply by 4.55 to get mpg (UK): EG 31.6 |

Ok. Thanks. So, so far we're all much of a muchness, somewhere between 8 and 10...
My driving is city-based with occasional long runs, but over half the current mileage was accounted for by one 2,000 mile trip to Italy and back.

And this equation can also be simplified. Simply start out with 284, and divide by the number you want to convert. :-)

The trouble with gallons is that you need to decide whether you are working with imperial or US ones...the former being some 20% larger than the latter. That's why litres...or even liters...are easier!

I've travelled about 1700kms now on mine. Last time i poured i drove about 409kms with about 5 litres left in the tank, and that's with me driving like a granny and because its all city driving i don't expect fuel economy to be so great. I do remember flooring the car 3 times though.
I'd say about 400-450kms on a tank. so 11-12.5L/100km |
