My new 116d ED Edition (Sport Line)
Hey guys!
I took delivery of my new F20 116d ED a couple of days ago. However I was disappointed to see that my F20 was delivered with the wrong alloys. It's actually a long story and nothing can be done about it. When my dealer made the first price offer, I didn't chose sport line. But when I actually ordered my car I asked him to add the sport line for me. So I expected that the computer would automatically add the 16" sport line alloys. That unfortunately didn't happen and I signed the contract with styling 377 alloys, which I think are the worst looking alloys you can get on an F20. I asked my dealer if they couldn't be changed, but that was not possible. The only thing I can do is buying the alloys that I thought I ordered for about 1400 euros. But that's just too much money for alloys that I don't really like 'that much'. I'll just have to learn to get used to them I guess.. Besides that, my new 1-series is a great car. I was a bit afraid of what the Sensatec would be like, but I was pleasantly surprised. Of course it's not as nice as leather, but personally I think it's much better than cloth. The red-stitched dakota leather would've been awesome of course, but I couldn't justify another 1600 euro for that. So I would recommend it as a cheap alternative to leather. The engine of the 116d ED is not bad at all, though if you drive it in eco pro, all the driving pleasure is gone. In sport mode it drives pretty well. Another nice surprise was that the sport line comes with the sport+ mode (I didn't know that). If power is more important than consumption to you, you will probably dislike the engine though. My previous 118d accelerated much better than this one, especially in second gear. But overall I'm glad I opted for the ED Edition. The options that I took were: Colour: Saphirschwarz Sensatec Schwarz seats Brushed Aluminium Trim Sport line Xenon Headlights Headlight Wash Adaptive Headlights High Beam Assist Rain Sensor/Auto Headlight Activation Servotronic Multifunctional Steering Wheel Auto dimming rear view mirror Extended Storage Park Distance Control (rear + front) Front Fog Lights Electronic Climate Control Cruise Control with brake function Extended Interior Light Package Navigation Professional Full Black Panel Enhanced Bluetooth Mobile Application Preparation Front Seat Heating And of course, most importantly here, I've taken some pictures for you guys |

Congrats!
I've never seen sensatec interior in real life before, but I think it looks great on your picture. The rims look more like 17" than 16", and I actually think 377 looks better than the standard 376 Sport Line rims

Tommorow I gonna pick up my car to, and looking at your pictures, I regret I didn't took the sensatec cause I think it looks pretty good.
For the rest your car is looking very much like mine, same color, sports line and quite the same options, except mine is a 118dA with Alu styling 379 (17") Only 24 hours to wait. |

Nice spec congrats, I hope you like cleaning your car, you can’t beat sapphire black when polished up like glass! Big thumbs up for the interior trim plus the wheels don’t look too bad either, your ride will benefit from the higher profile tyres?

Congrats! Another 1 in Belgium!
It looks very nice! I've also got a sapphire black sport edition! I regret not taking the sensatec. How do you find the seat width ? |

Congrats!
These are the first pics of Sensatec in a F20 I've seen. Looks great! I'm glad to read you like the ED. How do you think about the engine when you drive around 120 km/h. Is it powerful enough to accelerate easily to 140-150 in the 6th gear? Or do you need to go back to the 5th gear? |

Cheers guys
@ Koalway Kid: I hate cleaning, but I really wanted a black F20, so I'll have no other choice @ Dafila: I've read your post about the sport seats, but I've had no problems with them so far. I personally think they are very good, perfect for long distances. Has your dealer already checked your seats? @ Ronald89: I haven't tested motorways much yet, but so far I never had to go back to 5th gear to accelerate to 150 km/h. In eco pro it can be quite slow though, but then you just switch to sport mode and the car accelerates fine. Of course a 118d would perform better, but the 116d ED engine is much better than I expected. |

how's the sensatec for you?
Seems to have many different opinions. Some say they sweat alot with it on a warmer day (even with airco) cause it's basicly a piece of plastic. |

It's a beauty! I love it in black -it's very cool, and the black paint enhances the headlamp contours, making it look more angry , saying...-pis off, the lane is mine! -ups I'm too old for that....

The sensatec is alright, but indeed, it gets a lot warmer than leather during summer. If I had more budget, I would've definitely gone for leather. But because I don't really like cloth, I'm happy with the sensatec. Also it doesn't feel as soft as real leather, but it doesn't feel like plastic either. I will take some more detailed pics of the seats (and car) tomorrow. These pictures aren't great as they were taken with my phone.

I also have the 377 alloys, in combination with Sparklling Bronze color. This combination makes the car a perfect business/sports car (assuming the people around me are honest to me )
About the sensatec seats: you do miss out on the sportline-red stitching now, which somehow do add to the 'redish' sportline style of the car... |

Haha yeah, after all the alloys aren't too bad and the car itself is great
I know the leather with red stitching is awesome, and I would have gone for the real leather if I had more budget. But personally I prefer other options instead of the real leather, as the sensatec is a decent alternative. If had to choose between leather and cloth, I would've gone for the real leather though :-) |
