It took them 5 years to release legal aftermarket halogen-corona-headlights for the e87. I highly doubt it will happen within half a year for its barely spread successor with a barely existing market for parts like that. 95% of the buyers of a new 1-series won't retrofit aftermarket parts on their new car within the first year, or even the warranty-time. The time and money it takes to develop and build headlights that pass most world wide relevant inspections to make them legal on most markets are huge. The existing number of people willing to buy those does not justify that. Not yet.

I'm very sure he was talking about the original xenon-retrofit for several thousand euros/dollars/whatever you have .

Yes the genuine OEM ones will be released in Aug/Sept as a retro fit kit (be prepared for a long delivery time due to current demand from the F20/F21 production lines and a bank loan to pay for them)
I am informed that the kit will include the lamp assemblies, controls, sensors and installation by BMW. They will have to be fitted by BMW as xenons have to tested for direction, glare and focus once installed in the car and a certified sticker placed next to the existing compliance plate. |

This will basically end as it did with the E8x. Barely anyone did it. Why?
Simple: - Xenon from factory - 900€. - Xenon retrofit at dealer - 2500-3000€. Thats what the german prices were for the E8x.

True. If you want xenon, just choose it - either the car is new or second hand. No reason to retrofit.
Btw I barely see halogen headlights on new BMW's anymore

I couldn't choose that because here you buy cars in stock...(cheaper) if you want your own specs, the price could be too high for our market...
for example, here there is no way to choose navigation because there is no maps for my country... |

Latinbimmer, If you can fit Xenons with out the sensors there
Look on the German EBay site, there are some listed. I see there are already many parts showing up for F20, probably wreckers or black market. Buy a set on-line and then them fitted by a local auto sparky. Have the only F20 in Lima with angel eyes |
