LED Tail-lights?
Hi everyone! I'm still new to this forum, so bare with me . I'm considering getting the M135i if the price is decent here. I've been reading around about the tail-lights and someone mentioned that if you get the xenon package (I'm assuming that's the lighting package) it comes with LED tail-lights?
Also, if it does come with LED lights, does the whole cluster use LED's or just parts of it. The pictures I've seen of the M135i tail-lights use regular bulbs -_- Can someone just clarify all this for me and if you have pictures to post you'd be awesome. Cheers! |

The only LED-Part of the taillights is the rear normal light, which are 2 l-shaped led-stripes. The rest of the tail light is normal bulbs. You get the LED-rears by default as soon as you order Xenon headlights (regardless of in a package or separately), on a m135i as well as on a 114i.
Normal: LED:

Yeah.. many people would expect that.. but BMW somehow does not want that, sometimes at least. The facelifted E9x had a LED-package available where most of the stuff became LED (indicators front/rear at least), even the E46 coupe/convertible facelift already had full-led taillights (rearlight/brakelight/indicators). But BMW will probably implement that with the facelift, to give F20 drivers a reason to upgrade to the facelifted model .

The matter is IMHO a shame for BMW!
But a least it's a "nice" reason and part for a LCI-Version. Anyways... does anybody know a dealer for F20 tail-lights with full LED-technology?

The alternative is to buy multi LED replacement lamps that simply plug into the existing lamp sockets.
Just make sure you get the version with built in resistors to mimic your existing lamps or the cars computer will think you have a lamp out. Some of the new multilayer 21LEDS lamps make the tail lights look amazing as they throw the beam in a 360 degree arc. Look at some of the on line auto bulb suppliers (not china) or your specialist Auto store |
