Honestly I like the way front looks but I think if it was like this it would look better.

Scott26,

so the 3dr will NOT have his world premiere in Geneva? And the reason is because it will be build in Leipzig and it will be only in JUNE/2012? Why is this?
What is reason for this? Because that doesn't sound like the real reason...

I was initially told that the 1er 3dr Sporthatch was headed for Geneva and it is as a preview Concept car for the M Performance brand which with the 4 cars already announced under M Performance - A 5 car debut would overshadow the other few Premieres at Geneva which bring the total to be about 10 Premieres.

Because the main IAA in Frankfurt is bi-annual. The organisers of Leipzig are trying to establish the AMI as the alternative german autoshow. So BMW are not the only ones preparing for Leipzig. Because Leipzig is the manufacturing home to the 1er and Germany is BMW's largest market for the 3er Touring it is fitting to launch these cars there.

Ahead of the AMI there is the Beijing autoshow which in 2010 introduced the BMW Gran Coupe Concept , and in Shanghai 2011 the BMW 6er Coupe and BMW M5 Concept. Now that Beijing is after the NYIAS instead of running at the same time as before. With the 3er Li and 7er LCI making their World Premieres , they will be joined by something new and exclusive for Beijing.

Agree this would have helped.

I would have prefered:
1) Subtly revised, lower profile E82 LCI style headlights.
2) Something similar to E46 headlights.
3) Copy Audi's styling...

Secondly the diffuser design does not suit the rear of this car at all.

That's as close as I can get to constructive criticism for this car.

If the 1-Series' looks were really ever the issue, none of us would own one.
It's all about the driving dynamics.

Take it from me... a guy who drives an orange car with a catfish face for a front bumper.

Autoweek says it performs like a 1M. Plot thickens even moreso. Many suspected this was the case, and now it's proven. I honestly thought the next-gen 1 would outperform the 1M in standard N55 trim, but this does make more sense. Sorry 1M owners, sure hope you didn't pay over MSRP. Wonder if you can get this new one in VO as well.

I'd totally rock this. Front end looks very nice with the //M package! The lines of the front bumper really fill in and enhance the beveled look of the headlights.

Shame this won't be available in the states, I wonder if it's possible and how much the additional cost would be to get it shipped?

I seem to recall a few years ago everyone was hating on the 1 series looks too. Turned out to be, in my opinion, one of the more bold BMW designs available at the time and has aged very well.

You are right. The M styling makes the front easier likeable. On the other hand it moves a little away from the original design idea.
Anyway - the M styling definitely adds a sporty and agressive touch

Edit works on the iPad just like an ordinary laptop
