5min eye surgery with the New 1 series
Hi new to the forum just saying Happy new year to all. Now I love the new 1-series but I just cant stand the droopy eyes which I feel is such a let down so thought I would try improve it with the minimal amount of work as possible just to see how hard it could be. Just a change in angle. Not the best render as I just wanted to see what it would look like. What do you guys think?
Before: After: I think it at least gives the car more character and aggressiveness. Last edited by siu16; 01-01-2012 at 03:53 PM.. |

Your eye is accepting that picture but it is an optical illusion, in real life your render is impossible. If you look where the bonnet ends and where the light is, the light is higher than the end of the bonnet. It would have to be bending over backwards otherwise if you looked at a profile shot, the light would be sticking up over the bonnet unless you raised the bonnet. That would reduce front visibility and probably have implications for pedestrian safety.
Sorry but photoshop is all very well, cars are made in the real world where real physics determine what is possible. Also i think the car looked better before you butchered it..... no offence.

Geez I have never had such a strong response from a 'Render' before. Just to clarify the headlights are not over the bonnet as I did not expect to use the original bonnet shape to acheive this look Its how I would have preferred the front end to look and where the bonnet to finish etc. In regards to pedestrian saftey the headlights are shock resistant plastic so having them placed higher should increase safety for pedestrians rather then having the sharp bonnet edge running around the top of the lights. BMW create great designs no doubt, the 3er or 5er are great but lets be honest they messed the front of this car up big time. The fact so many blogerss out there have had to redesign the front end so many times should say it all (I am by far not the first) and it didnt exactly get a good public response when it was unveiled.
Its funny how you say I butched the car and told me not to take offence. I dont as its just a render. I take it you took offence to this post due to the fact you have purchased a f20 perhaps? Watched '5th gears' review of it? Anyway thanks for taking the time to view my post |

Which BMW did you buy? Just let me know so i can go ruin it for you in photoshop, post it on your board, and then tell you how many people agree with me that my 5 minute attempt is better.

I drive a E87 118D, please give it a try it would help develop your imagination. You wouldn't need me to tell you that the f20 has a poor design face, take a look at:
http://www.**************.com/1-seri...ourer-f20.html There is 41 pages of bloggers all complaining about the FACE of the F20. This was supposed to be a very simple example of what can be achieved with a bit of tweaking to design of the car. Like I said it was to improve the front end design, which in my opinion is poor. I own a 1-series so was totally disappointed with replacement. You take this simple post wayy too personal, you can relax BMW haven't taken my advice so get a grip! |

41 pages of bloggers... how empirical, come back in a few years and we'll look at sales data.

Thanks for the compliments 'Sol01'. I didnt create this render with the purpose of offending anyone. I saw a few renderings on this forum so just thought I would give it my own 2-cents. Im not going to continue this arguement anymore at the end of the day why read a post when you were not going to be happy with the content regardless. The title did give a good description what this post was going to be about.
