M235i vs M135i Front Grill Design
I guess the M235i is pretty enough, but I still like the M135i just as much
However, when I first got the M135i, I had a little question why the lower front grill is designed in such a way that, one side is open for intake, the other side is completely closed. I was worried that the close side will increase drag and lower my fuel efficiency, but then I see many Merc does the same thing, and since I don't drive in high speed often, so I just don't worry about it anymore. Now the M235i has come out, both side of the vent on the lower front is opened. However, instead of the intake, I saw this cooling fin looking thing. I was just wondering that are those for. Furthermore, for a little more horsepower, they opened up more cooling capabilities. Are they paving the road for something else? I have not go down to the local BMW to check it out; I am trying to avoid sales guy convincing me to swap cars, har har. Again, thanks in advance~ Last edited by westphone; 02-27-2014 at 08:35 PM.. Closing air intakes up front is actually helping with regards to aerodynamics. Leading air through the engine department is nice for cooling purposes, but it causes more drag and lift.
