Problem with welcome lights when opening car
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Usually when you open the car the welcome lights (corona lights + tail lights) are turned on. This always worked in the beginning, but now it's only working half of the time when opening the car. I have the impression the problem is getting worse and worse for me. Anyone else having this problem or is there anyone who knows a solution? |

Welcome lights only work when light control is left in automatic mode (according to handbook) have you been switching light control to '0' (off)?

No it's always on automatic. And when it doesn't work I close the car again and re-open it and then the lights switch on. It's weird..

Tis a bit strange as I dont have auto lights, but in the idrive I have the option to enable welcome lights, only if I leave the headlight switch on headlights lock the car and unlock do the lights come on, but also I have noticed that when I unlock the car thr interior light does not come on, seems like the gremlins are around again.

do you use both keys? because opening light is an option wich can depend on the used key as well as saved Radiostations, Seat adjustment etc, if you use both make sure that you enable opening light on both keys

I have the welcome lights option turned on in the idrive menu and I always use the same key. It's just very random. Interior lights are always turned on but the exterior lights only now and then. Sometimes when I click once to open the drivers door nothing happens and when I click a second time to open all doors the welcome lights are working. So at some point I thought all doors had to be open for the lights to start working. But yesterday I only openef the drivers door and the welcome lights were on. I don't understand it, there's about a 50% chance they work when I click the key.

Try going into your idrive settings and set your doors to 'all unlock' (one button push on your remote) Then test your doors to see if it works then. It could be a glitch in the programme.
