Hello,
Your not the only one trust me....the usb seems to be the bain of my life at the moment....!! Im not sure if you have taken it back to bmw but i recently have done and they have carried out some technical programming which has made using a usb alot better. I am still having issues with the connecting the ipods and iphone as it seems to disconnect when it likes too etc But it has been suggested by another user that the head unit and software upgrade have been recognised as solutions via bmw direct. Hope this helps :-) |

I dont think everyone has the exact same symptoms but the issue is likely to be the same.

Hello,
Yeah it could do but I am not very good with filing things in terms of music! I personally think an actual software update needs to be done this, I am going to ring the dealer again when i get a chance as now when i connect my iphone it constantly keeps disconnecting but still charging!! (through the y cable) |

Hi
You can download the software upgrade on BMW.com, you enter your VIN number and copy the file to USB and load it on your car. It worked with my problem. |

Really? Which one did you download?
I checked the website before and the version availible was ME5.3.53, which is the current version that i have. It looks like there is another but it does not seem to be availible to download! Thanks |

My dealer updated the software yesterday. The USB stick was working fine until he updated it. Now it reads the stick but says its an unsupported format (FAT32). Dealer suggests that the system can only see 35 folders?????
The car went in for a fan fault and came out with an audio fault. Jokers. |

I picked my wife's car up on Thursday. It's reading a 64gb stick with over 400 folders (Albums).
Has once decided it could see all the tracks but they were all invalid files. Unlugged it, ignition off/on etc but still wouldn't play. Next time out in the car all working ok again? How do you reset by the way? Cheers Lee |

USB problem more info
Seems I was updated to ME-007.001.005, just a pity that they didnt ask first. I have reformatted the USB on different computers and different OS, always to FAT32. It fails when plugged with with "Illegal Format". This is a 4GB Sandisk Cruzer and has worked fine up until now.
I tried an older USB stick, 2GB, that came free from a show, and hmm, it works fine. So? As a strategic upgrade, BMW don't like SanDisk anymore? |

No problems here.
I'm running an iPod Nano 16gb 5th gen as a music library (it is constantly in the car, has been there since I got the car 3 weeks ago) and it works like a charm! Can browse through artists, songs, playlists, genres etc, with album artwork showing. BTW, is it possible to change the "view" settings on the idrive to not view album artwork, just artist, track title, album etc.? Bluetooth audio streaming and telephone also works great with my Samsung SGS3. |
