You got a pick of the scratch? Hopefully it's not too deep and it can buff out by a good detailer

what a shame :-(
Hopefully the touch up won't show. My wife's PT Cruiser is Solar Yellw and the touch stick isn't 100%...its very close, but you can see where its been used to cover stone chipping damage. Good Luck with the dealer...they don't sound very efficient, sadly, that happens even with BMW. |

I had the same thing with Audi but spotted it before i left car park . They had my car in for a week for re-spray , didn't say sorry but gave me a tin of sweets which was after they had my car in for a new clutch pedal after one month of it coming of production line. They also forgot to re-connect some electrics which disabled my stop start and reverse parking sensor . |

Sytner in Sheffield, I did call them this morning first thing and changed the date for the coolant to the Wednesday 15. Also mentioned the chip and he said they will sort it when I take it in so fingers crossed. I will let you know what happens when I go in. Took the pics and emailed them to photobucket so it will date stamp.

Well car has gone in and I am picking it up soon, been given the use of a 3 series 120d m sport and nice it is.
The service guy says that he thinks it will be a full respray for the bonnet but I will not know until I go in later |

I am writing this on my phone so please excuse the errors of any. The reply I got was the original service guy will give me a call but not happy with this I asked to speak to the service manager as ultimately he is the one who will say yes or no. Waited 10 minutes when I was informed he has just gone into an accounts meeting but he has been told of the issue and as they have no record of inspection acceptance then they are liable. I should get a call tomorrow to book in if not I will be putting in a formal complaint and claim against both the dealer and BMW for the repair. I have done everything by the book and recorded everything including offering to take the car back the following day for them to check. I will see what happens tomorrow.

They should be able to get it repaired at a good bodyshop for you at their expense...keep on at them.
What recluse do you have if if they continue to be in denial? |

I am going to see what they say today first, then i will get a solicitors letter stating the facts and my offer to take straight back down for them to view. One thing i did notice is that they have filled it with a touch up pen which in the eyes of the law could be seen as admittance of liability, mistake on their behalf?
It is starnge as the damage is only a few mm long but they are saying that it needs a full respray!! I also had a discussion with the service guy as i have a bird lime stain on the bonnet which shoud come off/out as it has had the supaguard coating, his reply has it had the coating? well it will polish out. Is there any way of testing if it has had the coating at all? even a certificate of application would help. I am having doubts now that the car has been coated at all and in some ways regret buying the car as good as it is, maybe a bad dealer? Ford would and have beaten BMW for customer services hands down, i have had 3 new fords over the last 7 years. |

It is a known problem (with the coolant bottle) and of course it is changed for free, if you have the faulty one. the leak comes from where the sensor is attached to the bottle...it cracks in that point.

Find out the name of the dealer principle, write him a letter stating all the facts and mark it private and confidential.
Every BMW dealer i have known have been customer service mad, so you should get somewhere. You can also leave them bad feedback on the BMW website.

When I told the service guy that in effect they have admitted liability by trying to repair it with a touch up pen he didn't know and was shocked. I think it will get done just the hassle of it all. Regret buying it now from what is supposed to be a top car dealer.
