F20 Bmw Accelerating safety issue !!
Hi Just wanted to find out if anyone had or heard of any issues relating to the car revving continuously with out touching the accelerator.
Justhad an awful experience on the motorway when my 125d was accelerating and the speed increasing by itself. Pulled in to a service station straightaway and put the vehicle in park and the engine just carried on revving to the redline continuously. Had to wait for rcovery an hour have had it recovered to the local dealer, luckily Bmw have supplied a replacement car for a few days Untill the dealer tale a look on Monday. Any suggestion or advice appreciated, I've had no issues with my vehicle at all hopefully it's something minor so I can get it back soon.

Wow that's first time I come across that news story.
Luckily I managed to stop the car, the patrol that came out said the engine was running at full speed and would carry on so he wouldn't even try and drive on to the flat bed. |

I had this issue with a 2002 renault clio, and my car began accelerating in the middle lane of the M6, quite frightening, managed to get to the hard shoulder and pulled the key. Keep us posted on what they find?

Just a quick update, Got the car back today and I was told throttle pedal module was changed.
Amazing that something like that can fail, Especially being a safety issue. Not been very happy about the service advisors attitude/knowledge after enquiring what was changed and raising my concerns about it happening again, He turns around and has the cheek to ask if I had any aftermarket mats fitted lol. Anyone hope no one else has such failure especially when driving on the motorway.

Anyway, have you raise any kind of complaint to your local consumer right protection agency? just to get the case documented&known by a third party, just in case it happens again... that'd be a very serious safety issue, and my line would be "change me the whole fu***ing car" Hope you don't have to deal with it again! |

But then again, I understand why they asked. I am pretty sure that most unwanted acceleration incidents are caused by floor mat issues.
