At Monaco, the real race is on saturday, as qualifying is king in Monaco and overtaking is almost impossible.
That gives high hopes for the qualifying specialists, and potentially the start is very important too...

In recent years the best part of the GP has been qualifying, with so much at stake teams really push it to get to the front. If it's dry the race will be a procession. Here's hoping for some showers.

🔋 This is due to the amount of energy that can be used because of the track's characteristics. Which puts safety at risk

i cant imagine what a mess qualifying will be this year. with 22 cars the first session will be filled with people getting blocked. I wouldn't be surprised to see some major drivers out because of this.

Here's another thing you don't think about with these Hybrids

Mercedes may not know for months what went wrong with George Russell’s ERS module in Canada.

After initial post-race inspection of damage, the module can only be shipped back to UK rather than flown.

Deputy team principal Bradley Lord explained on Mercedes Nu Silver Arrows radio show: “It was a sudden sort of kill of the ERS system on the car as he came into turn 8 and then that did a reasonable amount of damage afterwards as well.

“We got the car back and were able to get the module out of it. It had to undergo some unusual safety procedures and then has to be shipped back actually to the UK.

“It will therefore be several months before the hardware gets back and we need to really dig through the data to understand exactly what went wrong and then work out how we try and prevent a repeat on any of the other modules in the future.”


High capacity LiPo batteries can't be flown only land or sea based transport. One has to wonder how the logistics of spare ERS module's shipped from race to race works?

"In Formula 1, the number of Energy Recovery System (ERS) components a driver is permitted to use without penalty is strictly regulated. Each driver is limited to a maximum of 3 MGU-Ks, 2 Energy Stores (ES), and 2 Control Electronics (CE) for the entire season."

I remember the good old days of drain the tanks and ship the car.

Well done Ben/Manufacturers for lumbering F1 with this fantastic piece of tech that has to come back on a cargo ship in a special container and handled similar to a UXB. Bomb disposal have been notified
