Sad day for me...
After happy purchase and ownership of the last Legacy GT that rolled off of the assembly line, with the previous owner making many $$$ modifications to it, I made the sad decision to sell it Friday. Needed space in the garage, can't physically do the work on it any longer after the last spine surgery f***ed me over.
It sold immediately. 2012, only 34K miles on it; lots of street and track mods. Still smelled new on the inside. I got what I wanted, sold it to make room for the X4M. Here in OH, I never leave my cars outside. Too cold, too miserable in the winter, never know when it's gonna hail in the summer. But it was a rare gem. Not a scratch or swirl mark on it. |

I owned a 2005 and 2008, both manuals. Went to a 2011 3.6R after that, but, the two manuals were great cars. The 2005 I did a ton of Cusco suspension mods to as I didn’t need the speed. The ‘08 I drove for 3 yrs and 81k miles, with 0 issues! Don’t know why Subies get a bad rap.

Mine have been great, but no CVT vehicles. I have an 07 B9 Tribeca and an 06 SG Forester. Love them both. The 'beca has 130K on it and the Forester has 290K on it.

In 2006, I was looking at a Legacy GT SpecB - was down to $500 difference for my trade in and I walked. Ended up getting a Mazdaspeed 6 instead. Worst mistake I ever made...and worst car I ever owned.
Sad part, Subaru dealer called me the next day to agree to my offer...if I'd a just waited. But, an early trade in on the Mazda became my first BMW in 2008.

Yeah, I wish they still made turbo manual wagons! Unfortunately, no longer the case and they even did away with the H3.0 & 3.6 engines. The Wrx went the wrong way with the latest design even though it’s still a bargain for what it is, with lots of aftermarket support.
I was glad to have owned a ‘21 STi, as the pinnacle of my Subie journey! That’s also gone now…and after 20+ years of owning Subies, I switched brands and got an M3 to accompany my daily 3.6R outback. Don’t know what I’ll get when it’s time to give the OB to my kid once he starts driving. :/ |

Yeap, just wanted another manual till I can no longer drive/buy them. Automatics are boring, even though they are faster. But, speed wasn’t the only motivation for me to get an M3. It was the manual, which people say is ‘bad’ as compared to other cars. However, I don’t feel that way and just enjoy it for what it is…my therapy! Haha.

I gave away 2 cars at trade in yesterday- was bittersweet for me as well. 08 CLK 550 amg package and ‘12 c300 sport. The trade in was very low but the ev credit helped offset. The ‘21 model 3 performance is very different but it does align better with the season my family and I are in. But Ill miss the roar of that 5.5 liter v8 with cutout open.

It's a hard pass for a lot of people right now for a variety of reasons, which is why the deal I got was so good. I'd like 100 - 150k miles out of it, if I have it that long, which I most likely won't. But the technician at the Mercedes Dealership here that is highly reputable has the same car and gave me plenty of assurance (his 2nd and he's never going back). |

So sad to hear about the farewell to your GT.
My first Subie was a 2012 Legacy 3.6R which was followed 3 years later by my husband ordering a 2015 WRX Limited (6MT). I needed more cargo space so I traded in the Legacy and ordered a 2017 Forester 2.0XT Touring that was loaded. Of the 3, the WRX had the most issues, and I was so glad we had bought an extended warranty. After a $4k out of warranty engine repair last summer, we decided that was it and the WRX got traded in for a 2025 M340i late last year. The XT got sold to Carvana on the day that my X2 M35i arrived at the dealership (from the factory), and I got it the next day. What the Subarus lacked in fit and finish (and some outdated tech), they delivered with the symmetrical AWD. We loved all 3 of them. I would have probably stayed with Subaru if they hadn’t killed off the Forester XT in 2018. Alas, I’m a BMW girl now. |
