MVMT watches sold for $200 mil

$200 million price tag for MVMT in 5 years?
Movado Group acquired MVMT Watches & Accessories.

Great job for a watch company that less watches less than $200

I'm happy for the founders! Two of my colleagues recently acquired a UK-based watch brand in hopes of replicating MVMT's success.

Not crazy about MVMT too.

What puzzles me is MVMT is similar to the ESQ brand Movado killed off. In my opinion, ESQ is way better.

Yeah just cheap fashion watch brand, what most people wear however. Dont generally buy those types but did get a jack mason while in texas.

Not a fan of the brand, but good for them.

Goes to show how far you can get with some proper social media marketing. Honestly weren't their watches just Chinese Quartz movements in differently designed cases? I can't imagine more than 25% of the cost of production for those watches was for the movements.

I had a MVMT watch, got it as present. They are good looking, but the quality is way below the price. There are a few identical designs on ebay for 10x lower price.

MVMT, Daniel Wellington, etc. use off the shelf Chinese quartz movements, with a standard Chinese case, white labeled with their heavily marketed brand. It's brilliant, as their margins are HUGE. upwards of 80% on cost of materials (excluding marketing expenses of course). The margins allow heavy marketing dollars to create an image of quality that just isn't really there.

Curious what the markup is on a Rolex Daytona, over cost of materials, or even a basic Sub? I'd kind of assumed that all these nicer watches were huge-markup items.
