Thud when engaging 1st gear
Good evening guys.
Bmw F20 Lci1 118d I have a "problem" engaging first gear. BMW 118d from 2016 MANUAL gearbox 110,000km. With the engine running both hot and cold, the moment I squeeze the clutch fully and am about to engage first gear I hear a thud even before the gear is engaged. (It is only felt inside the passenger compartment). He only does it with the first one. If I try to risk the clutch to trigger the noise again it doesn't make it. While, if I advance a few meters, I start again. It doesn't grate and the gears go in normally without any effort. To give you an idea, the thud is the same as on most motorbikes when you engage first gear. What could it depend on? I've been to 3 mechanics including BMW and I'm told it's normal. It's not so normal because I've had the opportunity to try other 1 Series and they don't do it in the most absolute way. PS: the noise comes from the gearbox Enlighten me! 🙏🏼 |

Could it be the rubber joint that connects the propshaft to the gearbox?
My F20 116i didn't make any noises engaging 1st. If it does it with the clutch fully depressed, then maybe it's dragging. (air in the hydraulics) Try pumping the pedal twice before trying to engage gear. |
