Lightbulb 2028 Range Rover GT

Very interesting. 🤔 I'm going to go out on a limb and say: It will sell. Well.
Not necessarily my cup of tea. But I can appreciate the brands move and the ginormous market for vehicles this size and of course folks desiring the brand moniker.

Range Rover Breaks the Mold and Goes Low with the New Electric GT

JLR has announced a fifth member of the Range Rover family, and it's likely not what you think of when you envision a Range Rover.
The Range Rover GT prototype stretches the definition of an SUV "coupe" with its long and low proportions that give it sort of a sedan vibe.
The GT will ride on the company's new EMA architecture and will be powered by an electric powertrain; the production version should be revealed early next year.
If you crossed a Range Rover Velar with a Jaguar XF, it might come out looking something like the new Range Rover GT. That's because Jaguar Land Rover (now known as JLR) has envisioned a new type of crossover, stretching the Range Rover design ethos and draping it over a fastback body with an electric powertrain underneath.
Sport-utility sedans aren't a new concept, although they are a rare one, and we've seen models such as the Toyota Crown and the Volvo S60 Cross Country breach the barrier between car and SUV. Even in camouflage, you can see the Range Rover GT's swoopy roofline. Door-mounted rear-view mirrors and a strong shoulder line down the side accentuate the car's width.
The GT's interior is also unlike any other Range Rover. A minimalist design results in few physical buttons inside, and sustainable materials are used throughout in place of genuine leather or wood. While it is quite striking in its appearance, some of the areas of the center console are crafted from plastic that could stand to be upgraded or wrapped in the same textured fabric that lines the top of the dashboard.
The GT's steering wheel is much smaller in diameter than what you'll find in the full-size Range Rover SUV, and it takes a slightly ovoid shape. Relative to other new cars debuting in 2026, digital displays are kept to a minimum in the low-slung Range Rover. A slim gauge cluster is positioned ahead of the driver, and a rectangular infotainment display is perched in the center of the dash. A head-up display is standard.
Passenger space is generous in both rows, and a large, uninterrupted glass roof panel is overhead. The seats look a bit flat and uncontoured, but the cushioning is plush, and you easily sink into a comfortable position.
While a hybrid variant could join later on, JLR has only confirmed an electric powertrain so far. The company has also not released any details about the powertrain's output, nor has there been any word about driving range. We have to suspect a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup will be offered given that the GT is part of the Range Rover family.

It looks pretty good, like the rest of the RR family, but where is full-size Range Rover EV for that they have been promising for years and it's still not out yet...

There is no reason this needs 24s or whatever those are.

Gee I think this a bad idea. RR is well suited to electric, no issue there, but not a coupe style design. RR is all about practicality, capability and immense comfort and class, cannot do that with a slopy rear end.

Cheap and missing like a bunch of stuff. Where is all the stuff?

I didn’t even know Range Rover was still kicking. Cool for them.

Other than the color, I think it looks good. The interior is well done [if that is the final design] for a minimalist look.

The interior design and materials look like Telsa+. That isn't a good thing, considering the interior design and materials were one of RR's few high points.

What interior? I only see a steering wheel and an iPad. I bet they haven't had time to design the interior yet and quickly did a Tesla copy paste.

So it looks like a Cadillac & the interior is horrendous.

All thess gigantic SUVs are now the size of what conversion vans were back when I was a kid.
