Low weight an right power always wins.
Bad the 1 Series looks so ugly. Hope 2 Series will look good.
Well, at that time 1M was the cheapest ever M car and was much more cheaper compared to a M3 and everyone started talking such a rip off M3 was 1M is a parts bin car and some of those parts did not come cheap obviously, that was not a real rip off BMW intended imo. And it was positioned correctly vs its own competition (Porsche Cayman S and R, Lotus Evora S, Audi TT RS and RS3).

On the other hand, M135i is definitely a better deal in terms of price/performance but you have to understand that it is a new product from a new line of models plus utilizing essentially nothing from more expensive M models so the costs of production are (fortunately for the clients) lower. It is also a hatch so they had to position it as good as possible to be able to sell enough since there are lots of alternative hot hatches and compact sports cars in the global market and even more are going to be introduced soon.

When Alfa introduces its 4C this year or next we will probably be talking that all German sports cars are a rip off
