Technically, every photo has a depth of field...be it small with blurred backgrounds, medium with parts of the photo slightly out of focus and other parts in focus, or large where everything is in focus. I probably should have specified a certain depth (such as a shallow depth to see a lot of bokeh). I just figured leaving it open would allow for more submissions, which it did.
So any photo submitted that follows the general guidelines (correct size, no photochopping, etc.) falls under the DOF theme. I am interested to see what depth is most preferred amongst the forum during the voting. We got a lot of bokeh shots but not as many hyperfocal shots as I would have liked to see.
