I wouldn't go jumping to conclusions that this is an N54.... High end motor-yes, N54 no.
When this car launches the N54 will only be left in end of life vehicles. From everything we have heard, the N55 and another to be launched motor will be picking up from where the N52 and N54 left off. They can get better response, emissions and mpg out of the N55 with it being cheaper to produce. There are 4 cylinders in the works that will put out more performance than the current N52 with less emissions and all that as well.
BMW has to get MPG in check so that will be a main focus moving forward. Also we should see more diesels offered and rumors of a permanent decrease in the cost of diesels here (no need for the $4500 ECO-credit) in the US as the numbers sold increases.
