Don't forget that much of the cost and time comes from prepping and correcting the car. You are essentially locking in any imperfections with a coating and unless the paint is pristine, you are memorializing any issues that exist on the paint. If you are not willing to completely do a full paint correction, then the ceramic coating is a time machine displaying the cars imperfections.
Because the car is new it does not matter, as they arrive at your dealer after a train ride, sitting on docks and boats, another truck ride and then welcomed at the dealership with a dirty rag wipe down.
