i personally think it's too many, but i admit that's mainly because i find it annoying and confusing that we find ourselves with series 1 thru 8, X models 1 thru 7, and M versions as well. And then they double down by pulling shit like "well 4 and 6 are for two-door versions of 3 and 5, but we'll make four-door 'grand coupe' versions of them anyway"
With that said, it's a good point that maybe it doesn't matter if all the variants sell well. But still, my main concern is that they produce great, compelling cars. I'd even overlook 20 different versions of bullshit as long as there were a couple of truly great models that i can buy.
But honestly, I'm worried. I think they're losing focus and trying to do too much. I hope I'll be proven wrong.
