120d N47 noise at low RPM

Hi,

not that long ago I've replaced my E90 320D (177hp N47 engine) with 2013 F20 120D (184hp N47 engine). I liked how the engine was performing in E90, it had very little vibrations and noise was really acceptable at all RPM levels.

Now, with F20 I'm kinda dissapointed. It's automatic so in comfort mode the transmission keeps RPM quite low. Between 1100-1500 RPM there is a lot of noise comming from the engine in the cabin. I know that these kind of RPMs are quite low for a diesel engine but driving at casual speeds is a nightmare compared to E90. Owners of 120d/118d - is it normal or there something faulty in my car?

On a different note - I don't know why the transmission keeps such a low RPMs. I don't think it's healthy for all of the components in a car. Driving casually in sports mode is not a way out of the situation as that mode has it's own downsides.

Any help greatly appreciated!
