Do you mean the allowance above you car's technical data? The same as the torque: well above your car's 320 Nm limit. Have you even seen your instruments, the speedometer, the tachometer? The latter can be explaining actually: some extra measurement is added to show going beyond the safe limit. That is, if you hit the end of the scale you might wonder if the scale is the limit, if you don't (reach the end) you see what the limit is. So, "talking about acceleration", if you don't exceed your technical limit on the scales it's fine. Also, BMW see the 1 Series as an introductory model. Write a book (your inquisitive mind shows quite some potential ) and buy an ///M car to explore the scales further on.
