Yet another accolade for BMW. The image consulting firm, Reputation Institute, has released its RepTrack 2012, their annual reputation survey, and BMW is this year's world's most reputable company. The company moved up from its 4th place ranking in last year's survey. This comes on the heels of BMW being named the world's most valuable auto brand in a recent and separate study.

BMW scored a total of 80.08 % with second-placed Sony and third-placed Walt Disney scoring 79.31 % and 78.92 %, respectively. Second best automotive company was Daimler at 4th place (78.54%) while VW is ranked 8th (77.04%).

Kasper Ulf Nielsen, executive partner at Reputation Institute said: "BMW has earned the trust and respect of consumers all around the world though its consistent focus on delivering high quality in all of its actions. For a company to earn a reputation above 80 on a global level is remarkable because we know how difficult it is to build a strong emotional connection outside of your home country."

In specific markets, BMW's reputation made for a top ten ranking in 10 of the 15 markets surveyed. It scored an amazing 85% mark in Germany while still doing fairly well in the US where it scored in the 70's.

The RepTrack survey is conducted every year in 15 countries, including the U.S., Canada, and several European countries like the U.K. and Germany. This year, the Reputation Institute surveyed approximately 47,000 consumers in total. See below for the Top 20 ranking.
