Surely this shouldn't happen!

Took it into BMW to investigate, they've stated that they don't know why it does it, and mereley polished the roof and door.

They even stated that it was a characteristic of the vehicle, and was not a manufacturing issue.

As this is clearly nonsence, can anyone else confirm whether they have a similar issue please?

Any advice appreciated as well.

I can confirm that I have the same issue on my X3, whenever we have rain and open the doors rain drips in on to the seats. I have also experienced the same issue on other brand of cars, so not just BMW.
However, I do own a 3 series (E90) and it doesnt appear to happen as much and I believe it's due to the chrome (or black chrome) that runs the whole length of the car and then curves round the rear doors. Any water that runs off the roof goes in to this area and runs off down the back or front of the car.
I don't know whether the 1 series has this same styling or whether its like the X3 and doesnt have the same piece of channeled chrome?
