Newsome won't have anything to explain, he will be long retired. There will be 15 years to figure out what to do, not like the date hits and we realize it can't be done and there aren't any cars to sell. If they went off the cliff with nothing to sell in 2035 the people in charge at the time would be the ones that would have a lot of explaining to do.

As for the lack of electricity, renewables have increased a pretty good amount and natural gas has gone down a large part of the same amount. What happened to this source and these plants? If natural gas had stayed level the overall capacity would be far greater than what is needed. Electricity generation is almost flat over the last 20 years and it will likely need to increase in the future, not an insurmountable problem. Solar and wind production continue to increase and I don't see a reason for this to end.
