Yes, I met my wife on Christian Mingle (before it changed - understand it is very far from "Christian" now), dated for about 2-3 years and then got married in 2009.
So it definitely works for some. I think in my case though, she was never going to sign up, it was her sister that basically pressured her into signing up for a few weeks on a dare or something from what I remember. I just got lucky.
