You're right, as I've done days in both, and the old (no, not old, let's say superseded...it was a great engine!) V8 had a very progressive throttle, and made wet track control much, much easier than its T6 successor, which just dumps a heap of torque into the rears at very low revs. No doubt if you had one and practiced on those surfaces, you could make it dance...but to me, driving it for the first time, the current M4 presents the driver with several handfuls with the all nannies off
