This. The e-tron GT is a semi-re-badged Taycan, which is fundamentally a Porsche project. The Audi version will have to be priced lower based on VW AG's brand/market structure.
That said, there are Audi projects that are starting to bleed into Porsche's DNA, most of which we haven't seen yet. (One example of one we
have seen; the digital interior displays in the Panamera and the new 992). This is evidence to me that the sharing of components major enough to be recognizable between Porsche and other VW AG brands is about to ratchet up.
In other words, this is the best evidence yet that the next Cayman/Boxster will be based on the TT and will be a hybrid. In fact, Porsche has all but admitted that there'll be a hybrid next-gen 718 in 2022, if not sooner.
As for BMW ... What it has planned for the next-gen i8 is the most likely competitor beyond hybridized/full-EV configurations of existing models. When's the next mid- to large-scale four-door BMW coming? The 3, 5, and 7 Series have all been re-done in the past 18 months ... the 9 Series?
