Subaru was notorious (maybe still is?) for trying to fool people. Their cars were significantly down on the wheel HP compared to other rivals, but they would put in their literature (as in, I actually read this): "Don't compare HP numbers, compare the 0-60 times, because that will tell you how fast these cars actually are". What they were doing was revving the engine way up and doing a 5K AWD clutch drop, basically using the engine as a flywheel and yeah, you could get some decent 0-60 times when down on the HP...for a while, until something breaks, because the car isn't going to handle that long. It was completely deceitful. The rolling acceleration times told the real story.

Maybe they are better on this now...
