This is gonna need its own build thread.
Not massive plans engine wise, but lots of changes suspension and shock wise. Probable re-gearing, Desert dune basher/camping mods. It's an adventure family wagon.
So I bought this 2012 Y61 after selling my 2012 jeep JKU Sahara. Good car, fun off road, but just the frikking repair bills. Not sure where they get that Tonka tough rep from, because they are far far from that.
Anyways, here she is when I picked her up. Drove her to my shop where I am building my race car and chucked her on the lift. Poked around for a bit and though it looked ok. Couple things need taking care off, but I can do most of that myself. Bushes/exhaust drag arms etc. Couple of the exterior bits need attention and I'll probably source a new rear outer plastic boot bit as the bloke who owned it before me just bolted shit in through the plastic bubble outer skin.
The car has seen its share of off road time, and that's ok as the bloke has done a huge amount of pre and post maintenance. Mechanically aside from bushes it's pretty good.
Here she is when I went to see it for the first time.
Had a chat about the car and decided if it checked out mechanically, I'd found my new off roader.
Picked up the car the next day for inspection on a lift...
And found this.. not too bad at all, but allowed me to knock another 700 bucks Aussie off the purchase price.
So that's pretty good. Car starts like a champ. Diff housings are straight (that's a Biggie)
Brought her home after my flight and then got to work on stripping so much shit out of the car, and just de-cluttering it. Lots still to do. Need to get a new light bar as the one on it is ghetto. (Car is pretty ghetto too, that's okay as it's a dune basher
Pads are good. New licence plates and some insurance and then hit the desert for a test out.
