What I said about cats was their amazing ability to notice the slightest sounds while not being too vulnerable to loud ones - this was the point.
Being dead drunk, dead tired, just dead is nothing amazing, it doesn't count. Nor does just poor hearing (
some cats can have too), of course.
If those people could hear you speak while the cars were roaring around you could call them "cat people", perhaps.
Deep slumber is an advantage in noisy conditions but it reduces your chance of hearing the alarm clock as well - that's not so nice.
