Cars with a natural tendency to oversteer, are very difficult to drive for most people. I doubt that BMW would send it to the market like that. All RWD cars can of course be provoked into oversteer, but the basic balance should be neutral or slightly towards understeer.

The way to test the balance of a car, is to drive slowly in a circle, and notice the steering wheel angle. Increase the speed very slowly, sticking to the same circle. Usually you have to add slightly more steering angle as the car starts approaching the limit. That means the car understeers. If the steering angle gets gradually less towards the limit, it oversteers. Stop the test when the car starts sliding.
