There was a time where they had the Fiesta and Focus ST and RS models, in addition to Mustangs, but they never seem to have this stuff for very long and it just evaporates. They played with the Ford GT, but that wasn't really like a production model, just a limited concept. They don't seem to do stuff like CTS-Vs, V-blackwings, multiple 2-door sports cars, etc. They build everything on the Mustang.
One could argue the only genuine Corvette "competitor" Ford produced was the original 1955 Thunderbird. The '58 Thunderbird went in a different direction from the Corvette and the two models were separated by market focus from then on. The 2005 - 2006 Ford GT was conceived and eventually built to celebrate Ford's 100 Year anniversary and post 40-year recognition of the mid-1960's Le Mans fight with Ferrari; the 2003 revival of the Ford GT(40) had nothing to do with competing against the Corvette. So, I don't even know why this is a discussion point since for some 60+ years there has been no rivalry between the two automakers in the 2-seat sports coupe segment.

Maybe we can discuss the 1982 Ford EXP vs. the 1984 Pontiac Fiero?

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
