The power output is the same for a rather wide RPM range. You are right about fourth gear being close to the limiter, but I think it ran out of power in all three gears. As long as the power is the same, the RPM does not matter. In higher gears, the torque is higher, and the RPM is lower, but the resulting performance is equal in this case.

It is interesting to see that the 3 series can go faster with a bigger frontal area and the same engine. Is has significantly less aero drag.
