I had my M-Performance fitted at a shop I know well, they prep tracktoys and trackracing M3's and M5's.
In the installation instructions it says that you have to update some software setting in the computer. They've fitted numerous sets of BMW (M-)Performance brakes and never done this update. None of their customers every had a problem or a complaint.
I'm not exactly sure what this update is related to, but it's true that if you follow the instructions exactly, you'll have to hook up your BMW to the dealer's computer for a certain code.
