Origins for today's Genes : Autobild Imagines the BMW CS Hommage.

We all know that when a new BMW arrives, in some way or another we hear that inspiration comes from the past as well as the present and future.
BMW have a rich archive of iconic vehicles and especially no such vehicle can be definitive as the classic BMW CS/CSi and CSL models.

Whether they cruised along boulevards or tore up race tracks in areodynamics that earned the term "Batmobile" as a historic nod to the iconic crime fighter.
The CS/CSi and CSL earn a rightful place as an iconic BMW.

At BMW aswell as thinking about the future , there is also a connection to the past. Especially with the "What if?" series of Hommage concepts that do their best to link today's mobility needs to the iconic appearances of the past.
Such Hommages such as the BMW M1 , BMW MM and the latest BMW 328 Hommage.

Autobild in a part of their own "What if?" series in which classics are re-invented apply this thinking to the BMW CS to debate the question "What if?"
Of course BMW will continue to ask "What if?" with both the CS/CSi/CSL and the classic 2002 earmarked for future Hommage's. The 2002 will be the lead-in car for the all new 2er Coupe. A car that inherits some of the design thinking of the original 2002 as it is no longer a 1er.

Using this image as a base (but not the final car) and working to incorporate typical BMW design cues re-interpreted with fresh ideas and a more sporty looking profile than the 1er , unique headlights and taillights that seperate the 2er from the 1er.
