Thanks everyone for the input. It seems as though staying within the categories “Luxury Subcompact SUV” and “Plug-in Hybrid or Hybrid” the only two choices are Volvo and Lexus. The Volvo mild hybrid is so mild that it doesn’t seem very meaningful, and the Lexus just doesn’t do it for her. She does not want to consider a bigger SUV or non-luxury brands.
So we are back to square one, and square one for her was an X1, before someone told her she should get a hybrid and she decided to go that route.
Problem now is don’t know when a ‘23 X1 will be available for a test drive. One dealer told me they likely will not have one until next year, and another told me probably 1-2 months.
