335Xi

Did you see 2007 e90 335Xi brochure? You can check it here http://www.bmwusa.com/NR/rdonlyres/A...e_10192006.pdf
Looks like paddle shifters are NOT even an option on 335Xi sport package auto. I don't get it. Does it mean that 335Xi auto is getting a different steptronic transmition?

I placed order for E90 335Xi last week Jet Black/Black (already thinking of changing to Sapphire Black because of soft paint issues with JB posted here and other places), ZSP, PDC, Cold, Step. Did anybody get a production number/date already? My order went to the "bank" and I am expecting prod number by end of Feb with production date in March and April delivery. I also understand that invoice data and options will be available in the begining of next month. Does anybody know anything different? One dealer in North NJ told me production is sched to start in mid Feb with first cars arriving in March ...

I got the printed version from the dealer and I agree, it sure looks like the paddle shifters are unavailable on the xi. Good job catching this issue. I was waffling between the step and MT. Now that means I'm definitely getting the MT.

That is NOT 100% sure yet either -- therefore I asked the question. According to yet another dealer I recently spoke to paddle shifters are included at no cost and not even an option (standard future) if you get sport package. It is all very confusing I must say.

I heard the same about the paddle shifters being standard on the automatics

Go with the Manual anyways though

If the paddles were standard, then there should be a square in that column, just as for the 335i. But it might be a misprint.

On the other hand, if your heart is set on having the paddles, I wouldn't trust what a dealer says.

You are probably right. And if that is the case than why is that. If they are using the same auto tran as 335i than why there would not be paddle shifters? I chosed 335Xi for power - "yes" but tran was probably another 30-40% of my decision ... If it is a totally different tran may be somebody with insight connections can clear this question for me. Thanks.

Xi sport and not sport have the same height. So, "yes" Xi will be an inch or more higher than 335i with sport

It doesn't make much sense to me, either. But I would wait until the final price sheets come out.

Where did you get the info on the height? I could only find one height in the brochure and its not clear whether its the 328i, 328xi, 335i, or 335xi.

Correct.
xi w/ ZSP = xi > i > i w/ZSP ride height
(you are paying for the for the sport seats, sport steering wheel, and therefore the package is cheaper. No suspension change.)

Unless they changed things this year..

Dealer mentioned this to me and I remember reading about it here. "Xi" is higher than "I" to begin with and sport package drops "I" down an inch or so. Since "Xi sport" is = "Xi" than "I sport" will be more than an inch lower than "Xi". If you do search I am sure you'll find exact answer -- I just don't remember the number from the top of my head.

The 2007 e90 brochures are available at the dealers, and they include 335xi specs & package options. The tech info for the 335 xi is mostly "TBD" tho, such as fuel consumption, 0-60 accel, etc .

And if you think it is not confusing enough here is another doc:

335xi Sedan

335xi Sedan starts production March 2007. The 335xi Sedan is powered by the same 3.0-liter twin turbo inline 6-cylinder engine as the 335i Sedan. The equipment, packages and options available on the 335xi are similar to the 335i; however below are the exceptions and new additions.

Standard Equipment
Retractable headlight washers are standard. Therefore, they are not included in the Cold Weather Package (ZCW).
Sport Package Equipment
Sport Leather steering wheel
Differentiated 17-inch wheels style 158
Sport Seats
18-Inch Wheels with performance tires, style 162, available as a Sport Package upgrade
Options
Active Steering (217) will not be available for this model
Paddles shifters (2XA) are not available
SULEV

Starting with March production, automatic transmission (205) will no longer be required on the 3281, 328xi Coupe, 328i Sedan, 328xi Sedan SULEV models.

All 3 Series Sedans, Sport Wagons, Coupes and Convertibles

HD Radio with Multicasting (653) is available as a factory installed option. Not only does this improve sound quality, it also allows access to additional radio programming. Vehicles can now be equipped with HD Radio and Real Time Traffic information.
Optional iPod/USB adapter (6FL) is now available. This option enables the vehicle’s audio system to play an MP3 player through the vehicles audio system. It will fully integrate iPod’s functionality into the radio or multifunction steering wheel, as well as charge the iPod.
Navigation with Voice Recognition and Real Time Traffic Information now includes 6 programmable memory buttons for storing frequently used functions sucha as a phone number, street address or radio station.

3 Series Sedans and Sports Wagons

Sonora Metallic (A23) is replaced with Platinum Bronze Metallic (A53). Platinum Bronze is the launch color of the all-new 3 series Convertible.
Barrique Red Metallic (A41) is replaced with Barbera Red Metallic (A39). This is the same Barbera Red that is available on the 6 series.
3 Series Coupe

Platinum bronze Metallic (A53), Barbera Red Metallic (A39) and Atlantic Blue Metallic (A13) paints are all available. To make the color palette consistent with the convertibles.
THIS DOCUMENT IS CONFIDENTIAL AND SHOULD NOT BE SHARED WITH THIRD PARTIES FOR DISTRIBUTION

Based on this doc and one from Canada seems USA version ZSP and Canadian will be differnt -- no paddle shifters, 18" wheels. Would it also mean that ZSP is chipper since there is no 18" wheels in base ZSP, paddle shifters and suspension changes in USA? Does ZCW will be chipper as well because washers are standard? ... Guess we'll know in a few weeks once prices are released.
