I was wondering if you guys have any tricks for cleaning rims. Do you use special brushes, gloves, sponges? I'm looking for a better way to clean my 383M rims in particular.

Today I spent almost one hour cleaning my rims, which was a real pain in the behind. I just use a water, regular car shampoo and a cleaning glove. I was thinking about purchasing some kind of brush which would make it easier to get into those deep corners. So what do you guys use?

I used Carrand Sheepskin Wheel Cleaner

This is made of wool and not damage the wheels.

I use wheel rim cleaner from BMW. Works great, you spray it on, let it soak for 1-2 min and pressure wash off. Remember to do the 4 wheels completely, then move the car 0,5m and do them all 4 again.

With a circumference of around 2m for the tires, I guess moving the car one meter would be more suitable if you want to clean them in two sessions.

That's it? Just spray and wash it off? Sounds like heaven. How many times can you wash your wheels with one bottle? Because it looks kind of expensive though.

Most wheel cleaners use similar ingredients as liquid carpet cleaners.
They are designed to seperate oils, grit and dirt from synthetic and wool materials
I have found that a good quality brand of carpet cleaner works well to remove the brake dust build up and is much cheaper to buy than the car care brands.
Just follow the same instructions.
I spray on the wheel, leave it on for 30 secs to 1 min then wash off with a High pressure unit (Karcher). If your wheels are really dirty you just use an old paint brush to work it in whilst you apply the cleaner.

I have been told that these chemicals will not harm the wheels or tyres.

The plus is that it also works on your car mats

I use some wheel cleaner (currently from Chemical Guys) and a Wheel brush (currently I have one from Meguiars). It works quite well.

Thanks for the tip... will definitely be giving this a go on mine. Brakes dust is building up like crazy...
