Hello,

It's September now and there are no signs of BMW's releasing the Retrofit for Bi-Xenon Headlights. When I asked my dealer, he told me "off the record" that I could buy via eBay and install in any BMW non official service center and I will keep my warranty. He said that I lose my warranty ONLY if there is a problem and BMW determines that it is because of the headlights.

I'm and I don't know what to do... Do you know if there is any extra things besides the Bi-Xenon Headlights in order to install? Codes?

The requirements for Xenon headlights is that you need sensors in the suspension for height adjustment, and headlight washing nozzles. At least in Europe those are the rules.

Fortunatelly, here in Peru there is no rules about the washing nozzles. About the sensors.. I think I'll have to wait until the official retrofit kit is on sale though ... Bi-xenons costs around USD400 each ... but the retrofit kit may will be around USD3,000 :S

Why go through so much trouble (and money) for some xenons? Ok, almost everybody agrees they look better and offer more comfortable light at night, but personally I don't think they're worth the $3000.

Me neither...I could spend USD 1,000... but 3,000 it's crazy... no way... Let's see what happens..

I wouldn't even spend USD1000, will rather just buy a M135i in a few years time and spec them then.

Well, I'm dreaming with the i8 in a couple of years when it will be released. I don't know if I can afford it

If I remember well BMW never released bixenon retrofit kit for previous 1 series. Why should they do it now? Is there any rumor about tt?

I agree. Also I don't understand why BMW even has the option to chose between standard and bixenon lights when Audi or other brands offer bixenon or even Led lights as standard!!

According to my dealer, they were told from BMW that at the end of July...maybe 2013?

3,000 dollars seems rather high. In he UK as part of the visibility pack, it's equivalent to 1600-1700 dollars. Still very expensive though.

Retrofitting is always more expensive than buying it up front. Xenons require a new bumper, extra sensors, washers, etc.

At least if you install the washers. Then you require a different bumper that has special openings to mount the washers in.
