Burning smell inside and outside car
Got home last night and parallel parked the car on the front, when we both noticed a burning smell. smelt like something in the engine- it was very strong.
Got out and had a look under the hood (man style) and discovered the same smell- but it was disappearing by this point. Left it over night, and done a 60mile trip this morning and its been fine. I've just hit 1000 miles, so just wondering if this is part of the breaking in stage. Will keep an nostril on it. |

I have noticed it a few times...I think it is due to: a) waxes or whatever else is there, melting during breaking-in process by the high temperatures and b) it is normal due to the high temperatures of the Turbo, which sits on top og the engine. My Mini Cooper S had similar burning smell on few occasions. These, are just my guess, since I have not asked my dealer yet.
