Well good luck having 4 adults in the f2x car. I think the back seats of my e90 are as small as I would go especially from a comfortability persepctive. I'm 5'11' and sitting in the back sucks.

Hmm, I'm 6'2" and can sit behind my seat in the E82. My only issue with the back seats in the E82 is that getting in and out is less than graceful. I love the interior size of the E36 3er, so I'd be very happy with an F2x sedan.

So are you saying families didn't exist when the E36 and E46 came out? My friends are well over 6'2 and would fit in the back of my E90 just fine. I can also sit in the back of an E82 without a single problem.

I personally think that the F30 is big enough where you could fit an E46-sized car underneath it, in coupe and sedan form, which would be called the 2-series and 2-series Gran Coupe respectively. The 1-series will remain as a hatchback only.

I saw (what i believe to be) a 2 Series Gran Coupe being tested in Santa Barbara a few weeks ago...

They did their normal job of masking the car, so can't tell too much from the pics but hopefully this gives a better idea of what they are planning... Definitely has a "Gran Coupe" shape to it!

I think the point though should be making the 2er etc with hydrogen - electric - etc platform, that allows to save floor space, making car inside bigger yet outside smaller.

I saw the Mercedes-Benz Concept at the Beijing show (my report is coming)
and evaluated it along with my esteemed colleagues.
In reality the car is actually bigger and wider than the current C-Klasse.
It actually appears to be a competitor for the BMW 4er Gran Coupe which will be on sale by 2015.

I don't know what that 5'11" guy was talking about, I'm 6'3" and can sit in the back of my E82 with my head just baaarely touching the roof. I would consider the back seats pretty generous considering the tiny size of the 1 series, people forget that the E82 is similar in length to an E30 3 series!

A 1/2 series sedan or Gran Coupe would be cool, but I don't need such a car and will probably end up with another coupe.

Also, that red Audi looks incredible!

I sincerely would like to hear nothing more than that BMW is going to make a 1er GC, or 1er Sedan.....and that it will be beautiful.

Because if it has the headlights of the new F 1 series... I'm going to...well, I'm going to be pissed and not buy one.

I want a smaller car than my current 3 and a 1er sedan fits the bill perfectly. I beg of BMW AG to use common sense and reignite a bit of BMW passion for all of us who have frowned on the 3 series getting larger and larger.

Have no doubt that the end result will be a "1 series" sedan, regardless of opinion and speculation.

The simple matter at hand is money, and as any significant shareholder of BMW AG knows...these Bavarians mean to make tons of it. BMW capitalized on the sub 5er market with the 3er and they will subsequently capitalize on the sub 3er market with the proper and expected 1er GC/sedan. It is inevitable that such a car be presented by the esteemed BMW and it is inevitable that they will succeed.

Proof, you ask? No one has any. "Scott" has none, I haven't either. So long as BMW continues to do what they do best and make sub-compact sports cars they WILL develope..slash that (they already have it developed)..a 1er sedan.


The only question is: When will they bring it to market?

Well I feel EXACTLY the same, except for the coupe.
I want a smaller car than my 335i coupe.
I hate the headlights of the current 1 hatches.
I am ready to leave BMW if the coupe is not cool, and a warmed over 1 hatch.
BMW make the 2 coupe a must have.

I agree. It's much sharper looking than the current A4 and appears to be around the size of the old B5 chassis A4.

Well, Audi has been hinting at coming out with a sedan version of the new A3, so there is potential competition on the small sedan front. In the automotive world, it's also not the best business practice to sit around and wait to see what your competitors come out with first.
