F21 1 Series 3-door Hatchback Revealed in Patent Images

The F21 1 series 3-door hatchback has now been revealed via this set of patent images.

The F21 is set to be revealed as early as Spring 2012. Expect to see more powerful engines (compared to the F20 1 series 5-door) introduced with the F21. To name a few, we expect a 125i 2.0l turbo inline 4 producing in the ballpark of 220hp and a 125d to complement the 116i, the 118i and the 120d.

As expected, the F21 features a sportier look owing to the longer doors and rear windows, as well as frameless windows. Just like the F20 5-door 1 series, the F21 won't be available in the US.

Looks great!! Love my current E81 and will hopefully get into the 125d at some point down the lane...

And pictures doesn't do the F21 justice. It looks great live and I wasn't excited about the design to start with.

Basically if you liked the old one you'll like this one. I'm not a fan of the 1 hatch but it can be acceptable in some trims. Overall, it's an ugly shape. It looks long and lazy. I've seen the new one on the road and it's not as bad as pics but yeah those headlights make the nose look very weird.

Sorry I have to disagree with people saying it looks better in person. It doesnt! I took one for a test drive, was an absolute beauty to drive but dog ugly to look at. Interestingly I have not seen 1 on the road here in Sydney yet and they have been on sale for a while now!!!

Yes! What were they thinking.. To be honest the old 1-series was a great (indirect) descendant to the e46.. But this?!?

It looks just as bad IRL.

Problem is, I have to endure the ugliness all the time because somehow, this car is selling very well in N-Europe.
