That explains a lot, allthough the board had enough time to change details if they wanted to
Still I think the F20 has more interesting than ugly lines

I wish the management in the automobile industry had more guts to carry out brilliant designs. Look at Nico's drawing of the 1-series. This is probably how he wanted it before the moneycounters started messing with it

i agree, but please understand concept sketches are always way more dramatic than the production model it selves. everything is more or less toned right down to meet the requirements to building the car. if the front wasnt so flat it would if been nicer,
saying that though concepts always make it from initial designs i mean look at the I8 concept, looks exactly as it is, but then again production cars are just mearly toned down versions of concepts.
when i spoke to bangle asking for tips and how should us new students progress in an economic struggle in todays world in such an competitive area, bangle didnt say much but told us to work hard and never lose interest and motivation, strip away a cars body and its still the same frame, today with so much technology is all about new ways to 'bend' metal.

I understand this when it comes to 4-door family cars that have to serve all purposes including the economic aspect. But one would at least think that a coupé, where the will to pay is higher, could be more bold and progressive. Both 1-, 3- and 6-series coupés/convertibles are good looking and elegant cars, but very conservatively designed. They say that the i8 concept is 95% producton car. Let's hope it's true

Car design? Must be a dream job. Hope you succed!

economic and ergonomic, you can make a great design, but when the engineers say no its back to the drawing board, but like i said with technology so rapidly advancing design is going to be limitless, whether the public is ready or not design will always move forward. its a hard thing to get right because the majority are conditioned to see the same things all the time, whats meant to be good designs in this generation (exotic supercars) and whats bad (old rusty ancient cars) to introduce new exciting designs are risky, but all the companies are doing so now so people will have to just get use to it.
often than not they get it right, take a look at retro design! so awsome! yeah the I8 is the car that will give BMW its design direction for the next generation of models. its such a nice design!
thanks alot pal, working really hard to get in!

beemerboy, saw your work on the M3 forum. Nice! How about doing a 2 coupe?

BMW must know current 3 coupe owners will be looking at both.

Thanks mate, Well i saw the M4 done by another guy, have you? obviously he spent alot of time on that, so i didnt feel the need to do another one, it would be how i envisioned with the 1m style bumper, i only do small and quick photoshops for forums, i save my other projects for companies when the actual 4er comes out il play with photoshop on that.
