why 8-speed auto instead DCT ? DCT reliability issues ?
Did BMW find a issue with the reliability of the DCT transmission and quietly switched to 8 speed auto for the latest models....????
Notice that the 3er and the 1er hatch don't offer this anymore |

The DCT is reserved for the sportiest models, i.e. the M cars and the 335i / 135i, Z4 35i etc. All the other models get the proper auto box (i.e. with Torque Converter), which now is an 8speed one.

The 8-Speed Automatic Transmission makes the car more efficient than a DCT Transmission. DCT will come to the 1er and the 3er. But not every model or engine option.
